While most theatergoers are biting their nails in anticipation of the Tony Award nominations, coming May 1, another awards committee has announced its nominees for the 2025 Chita Rivera Awards, which celebrate choreographers, dancers, and ensembles on Broadway.
Proceeds from the May 19 event will benefit the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation, and this year, will support a new Chita Rivera Training Scholarship.
Rivera’s career included a staggering 18 Broadway shows, garnering 10 Tony Award nominations, two wins (for The Rink and Kiss of the Spider Woman), and a special award for lifetime achievement.
