While magic famously flopped earlier this season on Broadway, Antonio Díaz—better known as El Mago Pop—just announced something unprecedented: a global stadium tour. He’s launching at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu (yes, where Real Madrid plays), with stops in Miami, the UK, and beyond. No illusionist in history has attempted this scale.

The announcement came during a Barcelona event featuring a stacked deck of celebrity endorsements—Helen Hunt, Aaron Paul, Mira Sorvino, Billy Zane, even video messages from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Christopher Lloyd. But the real magic? The numbers. Díaz has reportedly contributed more than €1 billion to the economies of Barcelona and Madrid over the past five years. His show Nada es Imposible has drawn three million people globally.

For El Mago Pop, bigger is better

Díaz is operating at a different scale entirely. His Netflix specials (Magic for Humans, La Gran Ilusión) are available in 190 countries. He’s Spain’s highest-grossing performer across all art forms (not just magic) and recently partnered with BroadwayWorld to launch the BroadwayWorld Europe Awards, which will recognize theatrical excellence across the continent from his Barcelona base.

If Díaz can fill an 84,000-seat stadium with illusions while most magicians are still playing venues that hold a fraction of that, maybe the industry needs to rethink what else it can pull from its sleeve.
