We know Tony … but who’s Dorian? GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics’ theater wing members named their favorites in New York theater for the third annual Dorian Theater Awards.

Winners, announced on June 2, may offer insights into how the Tonys shake out on June 8. However, unlike The Broadway League and The American Theater Wing, GALECA does not gender performance categories. The shortlist of nominees for such categories is upwards of 10 actors each, so, in theory, it’s anybody’s game.

Death Becomes Her leads the Broadway categories with seven nominations, while Cats: The Jellicle Ball leads Off-Broadway with five nominations. GALECA also offers some fun categories unique to its awards, including Outstanding Broadway Ensemble, the Broadway Showstopper Award for those moments we can’t stop talking about, and Outstanding Productions (Broadway and Off-Broadway), which recognizes queer-specific works.

GALECA will also recognize LGBTQ Theater Artist of the Season and LGBTQ Theater Trailblazer Award recipients, honoring their “lifelong commitment to creating art that inspires empathy, truth, and equality.”

Congratulations to all the nominees!
