In the never-ending cycle of repurposing works into different mediums, Real Women Have Curves arrives in yet another iteration, following its 1990 premiere as a play and its 2002 film adaptation starring America Ferrera.

Josefina López, who wrote the play and co-wrote the screenplay, entrusts this musical adaptation to a quartet of creatives, including Joy Herta and Benjamin Velez (music and lyrics), and Lisa Loomer and Nell Benjamin (book). Sergio Trujillo, who started his career as a Broadway dancer and now adds a 17th Broadway show to his resume as part of the creative team, takes the lead as director-choreographer.

The story showcases a community of women in East Los Angeles who, against the odds, navigate dreams and ambitions. López turned to her diary for her original inspiration.
